The Sun

Reminding myself to live in the present

"Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand."

-- Thomas Carlyle

I have observed that most of the time, we all speak in terms of future (or past). We plan, we fret & we worry. Constantly thinking about what to do for the next week, month and year. All this while forgetting about the present. Technically thinking, our present is our life! What you do right now will set a tone for what you do next.

"Yesterday is a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision, But today well lived makes yesterday a dream of happiness."

-- Kalidasa (from the beautiful poem "Salutation to the Dawn")

We can think of our entire life as just one day. Today.

"Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down. And this is all that life really means."

-- Robert Louis Stevenson.

Let us together live TODAY as fully as we can.

Lead, kindly Light... Keep thou my feet: I do not ask to see The distant scene; one step enough for me.

-- Church hymn
